When bulk image compression pays off
Lighter images wherever you publish.
Quicker pages and stronger SEO
Lighter images are one of the fastest SEO wins available: compress everything on a page and both Core Web Vitals and load times improve.
Upload size limits
Compress files under the size caps of marketplaces, web forms and content systems without reshooting or exporting again.
Email & sharing
Compress photos until they are small enough to attach and send, even on a sluggish connection.
Cut storage and bandwidth
Running a whole catalogue through one batch trims storage and bandwidth costs across thousands of product images.
How much smaller can files get?
Usual savings when you compress a whole batch of images.
Photos · JPG → WebP
Commonly 25–40% lighter with no difference you can see — great for product photos and banner images.
Screenshots · PNG → WebP
Often 50–70% lighter, because PNG screenshots are bulky and WebP stores them far more efficiently.
Oversized uploads
Set a maximum for the longest edge and each image can lose several MB before quality is even touched.
Why are some image files so big?
File size comes down to three levers, and this tool hands you all of them.
Resolution (dimensions)
More pixels make heavier files. If full resolution isn't needed, set a maximum size.
Format
For photos, WebP and JPG are much lighter than PNG; PNG only comes out ahead for graphics and transparency.
Quality
Lossy formats swap a sliver of detail for a far smaller file — and you decide where the balance sits.
For the biggest drop in file size, pull all three levers together: convert to WebP, ease the quality down and cap oversized dimensions.
Lossy, lossless or WebP: what compression actually does
Choose the balance between file size and quality that suits the job.
Lossy (JPG / WebP)
Discards detail your eye will not miss in exchange for much smaller files — the natural choice for photography and product images.
Lossless (PNG)
Nothing lost, but the files stay heavy — use it for logos and see-through images, or switch to WebP to trim them down.
WebP
A modern format that is roughly 25–35% lighter than JPG at equal quality — the best choice for the web.
Rule of thumb: save photos as WebP with quality set between 75 and 85 for the largest savings and nothing visibly lost.

How to compress images for the web
Get the lightest files without visibly harming quality.
Switch photos to WebP
At the same quality, WebP makes photos 25–35% lighter than JPG — the biggest single step toward faster pages.
Avoid oversized images
A 4000px photo shown at 800px wastes bandwidth. Cap the longest edge at the size you actually display, then compress.
Set quality by content
Photos handle quality 75–85 without visible loss; flat artwork, logos and lettering need a higher setting or PNG to stay crisp.
Bulk image compressor questions
Is it genuinely free?
Yes. The bulk image compressor is free with no sign-up, no account and no watermark, and you can compress as many images as you like.
Do my images get uploaded somewhere?
No. Everything happens locally in your browser, so no server ever receives your images and they never leave your computer. That local processing is what keeps it instant and private, even with hundreds of files.
How much lighter will my images be?
Results vary with the picture and the settings. A photo saved as WebP is commonly 25–40% lighter than the JPG version, and a lower quality setting saves even more. PNG files drop the most weight once they become JPG or WebP.
Will compression lower the quality?
Lossy compression gives up a touch of detail for a big cut in size, and the quality slider lets you choose how much. Somewhere around 75–85 most pictures are indistinguishable from the original; flat artwork and lettering may need a higher number to stay sharp.
Which formats can I compress?
Load JPG, PNG or WebP files and compress them together. Each file can stay in the format it arrived in, or the whole batch can become JPG or WebP — WebP usually gives photos a clearly smaller file at the same quality.
Do the dimensions change?
No — by default the original dimensions stay and only the file size shrinks. To also limit the maximum width or height, switch that option on and the tool resizes before compressing for even lighter files.
Why does my PNG hardly shrink?
Because PNG never discards data, saving a PNG again as PNG barely helps. The real savings come from turning PNG photos into JPG or WebP; stick with PNG only for transparency or logos and artwork that must be pixel-perfect.
Is there anything to install?
No. The bulk image compressor works in any current browser — no software, no extension and no account. Open the page, drop your images in and compress.
Can I cut file size and keep the quality?
Compress photos to WebP at a high quality value (85–90) and most of them get noticeably lighter with no visible change. If you need output that is truly lossless, stay with PNG and expect bigger files.
Does compressing images improve Core Web Vitals?
Yes — lighter images load quicker, which directly boosts Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) and your page speed scores overall.
